Guntur Kaaram Review: Mahesh Babu Shines In An Uneven Family Drama

Guntur Kaaram Review: Mahesh Babu gives a full-of-life performance as the tough guy Veera Venkata Ramana. He makes the Guntur talk and style look easy. He puts charm, humor and great comedy timing into his acting, even when the writing is not good. His being on screen and star power lift up scenes that drag and make the movie work.

Mahesh Babu truly turns into his intense, rough around the edges character Ramana. Without much effort, he makes the Guntur way of talking and manners come alive on the big screen. This gives a solid base to his performance and makes an uneven story about his role seem real.

Guntur Kaaram Review Mahesh Babu Shines In An Uneven Family Drama

Babu brings dead scenes to life by putting real humor into funny exchanges, specially with Vennela Kishore. His skill at comedy and making moods lighter stands out. This gives some break from slow writing.

While the direction and editing of scenes makes the movie bumpy, Mahesh Babu’s strong screen presence keeps eyes stuck. His full of energy acting makes up for the ups and downs in the script. For his diehard fans, his mass hero role offers entertainment despite the director’s flaws.

Guntur Kaaram Storyline

The story in Guntur Kaaram about a mom named Vasundhara and her son Veera who don’t talk anymore starts off strong making you feel all the emotions. But then it slows down and does not pull the heartstrings like it should.

At first when you learn how the tough minister Vasundhara turned her back on her young son Veera years ago, it really stirs up feelings. But then the film does not keep this emotional promise going as the plot moves along.

In Guntur Kaaram, the Main Story Loses Steam The movie Guntur Kaaram does not succeed at crafting a compelling back-and-forth between mom Vasundhara and son Veera who are estranged. There should be more tug and pull to get viewers deeply hooked on their broken ties.

Even though Vasundhara is not shown a lot on screen, actress Ramya Krishnan leaves a mark as the mother. With just a few scenes, she delivers a subtle yet strong performance using her eyes and face.

Supporting Characters Struggle for Space

The supporting actors like Prakash Raj and others don’t get enough scenes or dialog to shine even with their talent.

Prakash Raj perfectly plays the powerful minister and grandpa. He brings a special layer when on screen with Mahesh Babu. But his character should have been more developed in writing.

Guntur Kaaram has great actors like Meenakshi Chaudhary, Rahul Ravindran, Jayaram and more. But they get too little screen time and dialog so feel wasted.

There are long sections spent on minor characters and side stories that have little to do with the main mom-son plot. These feel unnecessary and make the movie drag.

Guntur Kaaram’s Long Runtime Hides What Trivikram Wanted to Show

Guntur Kaaram goes on for too many minutes. This hides what writer and director Trivikram Srinivas was trying to have viewers feel.

There are a lot of scenes that did not need to happen. This ruins the rhythm where you stay locked into the film. It is easy to lose interest with all these useless scenes.

With no momentum between scenes and no tight editing, Guntur Kaaram suffers. The intended emotional effect gets lost. This pace and flow problem means it does not hit as it should.

Trivikram has shown he can blend intelligent dialog, philosophy and touching moments in his past hits. But his talents for writing emotional, meaningful stories does not come out well here. His good skills stay hidden due to faults.

Guntur Kaaram Relies Only on Mahesh Babu to Deliver Entertainment

Guntur Kaaram depends completely on Mahesh Babu’s exciting screen presence to work as an entertaining movie. Beyond that, it is weak in writing and direction.

Mahesh Babu’s incredible charm and energy on screen is the only thing that makes Guntur Kaaram worth watching. Without his dynamic lead performance, there would be no appeal left.

The loyal fans of Mahesh Babu who love to see him as a powerful mass hero will be happy with Guntur Kaaram. For them, seeing their favorite star in energetic punch dialog scenes makes up for narrative issues.

Looking at the writing quality, directing choices, editing problems—on all these counts Guntur Kaaram does not fully deliver. Beyond Mahesh Babu’s heroic performance, it is an uneven mix on technical fronts.

My Honest Guntur Kaaram Review

I would give Guntur Kaaram two and a half stars out of five. The only reason it gets these extra stars is because of Mahesh Babu’s excellent performance. Beyond that, I found too many weaknesses.

The story about the minister mom Vausndhara and her long lost son Veera had potential. But it failed to pull my heartstrings after the first 30 minutes. Too many unnecessary scenes just ruined the flow for me.

I felt bad that so many great actors like Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishnan and others got too little meaningful screen time. The roles of Jayaram, Rahul Ravindran, Meenakshi Chaudhary and more big names were wasted.

The only shining light was Mahesh Babu as rough, tough guy Veera. His screen presence, comic timing, swaggering mass hero dialogues were the sole reason I did not leave midway. His diehard fans will be kept engaged.

But for me, the patchy direction, editing errors, draggy pace ruined the experience. The writing by ace director Trivikram too disappointed me. Only Mahesh Babu’s awesome performance makes this one slightly watchable for me. I expected way better.
